What do you get when 5 musically frustrated dreamers that never really grew up, go out for a beer? A shiny new cover band… meet Gloss. Singer Angie Childs comes from more than a decade of solo, duo and trio work, and is excited to be fronting a 5-piece band.
“I love all the music I do, but there’s something special about being in the ‘engine room’ of a five-piece band. There’s a huge power there I’m just a bit hooked on, to be honest”
Gloss’ song choices are driven by the band’s playing strengths and the need to get everyone up dancing.
“We have a great time together off and on stage and we work hard to make everyone on the dance floor have an even better time”
The songs of choice tend to fall in the 1970s and 1980s, but with a focus on songs that open themselves up to some tweaks. “We’re an authentic rock band and we apply that to some fun songs that you otherwise may not hear at a gig. “
Whether it’s ‘Yacht Rock’ with a large horsepower motor strapped to the back, 1980s pop and dance songs with guitars front and centre, or a stadium rocker with all the bells and whistles, it’s all up for grabs.
“We went into this determined to avoid backing tracks and it’s given us the freedom to play great songs in a way that keeps people dancing and singing.”
